Punjab & Delhi Win the


Nanded, 21st December,2012. The 25th Senior Men National Championships concluded here today. The Championship was start on 18th December ,2012 and Closing on 21st Dec.2012. The Championships  organised by Tug of War Federation of India and hosted by Maharashtra Tug-of-War Association at Khalasa Sports Stadium, Nanded, Maharashtra

 Delhi & Punjab men lived up to expectations and won the title Hazur Sahib Guru Govind Singh Ji Cup which was organized by the Tug of War Federation of India hosted by Maharashtra Tug-of-War Association recently.

 It was a display of great teamwork and co-ordination from the State of Maharashtra , Punjab, Delhi , and Tamil Nadu, to edge out several other strong teams in the fray including Haryana which finished second in 600kg & 620kg. In the 600 kilo category, Delhi team lifted the gold with a great show and defeated all teams like Haryana, Tamil Nadu in Single Leagues cum knock- out matches. Maharashtra claims bronze after tough fight with team Tamil Nadu.

 In 620kg Maharashtra also did well to finish third by beating their strong rivals and Punjab clinched Gold by beating the team Haryana.

 Punjab Power had a team with a good track record and was considered as one of the favorites but the Punjab (PTWA) team managed to pull the rug from under their feet with a courageous display and won Gold comfortably. Punjab Power, which put up a good fight, had to be satisfied with the second spot while the third place went to Haryana Power that got the better of Maharashtra also by a 3-0 points.

 After the conclusion of the tournament, Sports Director of SRT Marathawada University, International Player, along with Mr. Madan Mohan, Secretary General of the TWFI gave away the prizes to the respective teams in the presence of several other dignitaries.
